Dear GJS Parent Community,
We are once again so pleased to have such a robust parent community. Your feedback and support makes our school great and motivates us all to do our best for our students. This August started strong with many community events.
Year 10 Personal Project:
The MYP Personal Project has begun! Students have already chosen their topics and input them in Managebac. By the end of August, students will be paired with their supervisor and Ibu Aprinda will give lessons during MYP Core on how to research and cite effectively. The Personal Project team of Ibu Popy, Ibu Aprinda Ibu Christine, and myself were thrilled to have such an engaged parent meeting on August 15th. We encourage parents to follow along each week in the GJS Personal Project site with the weekly planner. You will also find samples of IB and GJS students who scored a 7. You can also review the presentation here from the parent session.
Years 7-9 Book Week:
Book Week is coming! Ask your child, “What are you reading?” Last week all year 7-9 students went to the library and checked out a book to read for the Book Week celebration at the end of August. Our library team is planning an amazing event. This year’s theme is adventure.
MYP Academic Awards:
Friday, August 15th was a proud day for many students who received academic awards for their achievements of earning 7s in MYP subjects, National Curriculum, Service as Action and Personal Project from semester 2 2024-2025 school year. Also, students earned bronze, silver and gold certificates for their total number of IB MYP points. Our next celebration will be in January to celebrate the achievements of students during this current semester 1. We can’t wait to see our students on the stage!
MYP Curriculum Night:
Thank you for the enormous support during our first ever MYP Curriculum Night. The purpose was to learn more about the GJS MYP Curriculum and to meet the teachers. We hope parents felt the care and energy our teachers put in to their daily practice. Ibu Nelsy is also listening to your feedback from the parent survey sent in Global Insights to begin improving next year’s event with the team. Please click here to view the Curriculum Night slides.
We want you to know that we listen to your feedback as we are one community! Thank you!
