Dear Global Jaya Community,
With three weeks of school under our belt, we can safely say that school is officially in session. Students are developing the habits of mind to be successful in the classroom, and they are fostering new friendships and enriching old friendships to ensure school is a welcoming place for everyone. It is at this time in the year when everyone feels a sense of relief and purpose, knowing that we have settled into the familiar pattern of learning.
More importantly, we have not wasted any time when it comes to professional learning, athletics, and events. Our sports teams have already participated in soccer matches and basketball games. Our teachers spent four days in Adaptive Schools training, enhancing their ability to be agile and adaptive. And we hosted several successful parent sessions, including Curriculum Night, a PYP Parent Workshop, and the Primary Back to School Evening.
Looking ahead, please be aware of some upcoming events.
On August 30th, school is in session to support Open Day. It is important for prospective families to experience Global Jaya while regular school activities are taking place. While we know that this change to our regular routine is an adjustment for our families, we are grateful to you for supporting this event. As a result of having a regular school day on a Saturday, we will have a day in lieu on Thursday, September 4th, so please enjoy the upcoming long weekend.
During the week of September 8-12, our students in year 7 to 11 will be off campus for the Week Without Walls experience. These trips allow our students time to bond with each other as a year group, and they offer students the opportunity to engage in Inter Disciplinary Units and Service as Action and CAS experiences. The Secondary team has carefully curated the experiences for each trip, and we hope our students make the most out of their time away from school. Year 12 students follow a regular schedule at school during the week of September 8-12.
