The Year 5 had a lot of activities happening here at the beginning of the school year. In our first week back, the Year 5 held a celebration to celebrate Indonesia’s Independence Day. To celebrate our Independence Day, the Year 5 students worked in a group to create a skit. The goal of this activity was to show how we, the new generation of Indonesia, utilize the independence that our predecessors have fought very hard to get, sacrificing their blood, sweat, and tears. The Year 5 students were risk-takers and creative when they created and performed their skit to their peers. This activity also serves as a front-loading activity for our current unit, where we focus on how creative expression and communication may thrive through diverse media.
Another front-loading activity that the Year 5 did to support our learning was to invite experts to come and share with our students the practical tips and tricks of movie-making. We have the pleasure of having Ibu Sissy Sungkar, an actress, and Bapak Robert Ronny, a movie director and producer, who directed and produced movies such as Critical Eleven and Kartini. Ibu Sissy shared with the Year 5 students on how to become an effective actress, while Bapak Ronny shared about the tips and tricks of the technical side of movie making, such as the lighting, camera angles, etc. The Year 5 students were inquirers and thinkers when they listened to the presentations and asked questions related to the topic.
