Before classes officially begin, new students take part in an orientation program designed to help them settle in. During this time, they get a sneak peek into how the school works, learn about the curriculum, pick up helpful tips for starting fresh, and explore the school grounds. To make things fun and welcoming, the Student Council runs a series of games and icebreakers. The program wraps up with a guided tour of the campus, also led by the Student Council, so new students feel right at home.
The second orientation happens on the very first day of school and includes everyone. The day kicks off with year-level meetings where students get the big picture, then moves into advisory classes for more detailed information. Each advisory also has its own set of activities to make the experience more interactive and enjoyable.
Students then join subject sessions, where they get to know the learning goals, how classes will be run, and what’s expected of them throughout the year. Finally, the whole school gathers in the theater to celebrate the official start of the new school year together—a chance to set the tone for the year ahead.
Week Without Walls is a program designed for students in Years 7–11 to extend their learning beyond the classroom and explore their potential to create positive change. Throughout the week, students immerse themselves in local culture, engage with communities through meaningful projects, and gain fresh perspectives through authentic cultural experiences. The program also fosters stronger bonds among students, encouraging collaboration and connection.
Closely aligned with the MYP interdisciplinary unit, Week Without Walls bridges classroom learning with real-world application. To support this initiative, a series of parent meetings were held earlier in the year.
This year’s program will take place on September 8–11 for Year 7 and September 8–12 for Years 8–11.
The objectives of Week Without Walls are:
To support the development of social-emotional skills, learner profile attributes and ATL skills.
To build identity and enhance self-esteem.
To foster perseverance and resilience in action.
To strengthen relationships to build an inclusive community.
To provide service to a community.
