Dear Global Jaya School Community,
As we begin to get close to the end of the school year, students are still very busy preparing for their end of year exams. We are working with students in year 10 of MYP Core to help them prepare for their upcoming exams by allowing for collaborative study time as well as going over stress management strategies. Please keep in mind the following dates for year 10:
May 9th at 11:30am - students should come to school with a plastic water bottle, pens or pencils, wired headphones, and a charged laptop with charger. This is the final May 2024 Math eAssessement that will be sent to the IB for marking. Results will be sent to Global Jaya on August 1st. This is not a regular school day, so students will leave campus after the exam finishes at 2:00 pm.
May 20th to May 24th - Year 10 end of year exams - all exams to begin at 8am and students will leave campus after they finish their exam after 10 am:
On April 4th, students successfully completed their Math eAssessment mock exams. Their Math teachers are working with students to review the exam and identify areas for improvement. Also, students have a wealth of materials to study before their final eAssessment on May 9th. Well done to year 10 students and Math teachers!
Additionally, we had 12 MYP Product Design students submit their first ePortfolio! Pak Irwan moderated the results of the Design ePortfolios and the samples have been sent to the IB to be marked by IB examiners. Well done to the Product Design students and to Pak Irwan!
We are also grateful for the MYP Global Jaya parents that came to learn more about eAssessments and the Design ePortfolio. Participants learned how we will use this tool to improve teaching and learning for all of our MYP students. We understand that our parents are essential in the success of our Global Jaya students. Thank you! If you were not able to come to the session that was held on March 28th, please see the presentation here.
Global Youth Action Fund: Agrikita and Rattan for Life. Six year 10 Global Jaya Students won this prestigious international award to fund and support their service project that supports one of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Our six students are: Anika Siahaan, Advik Parashar, Altasena Soejono, Seongyun Bae, Sofia Jana Nirbita, Kiranamulya Arthanti. To find out more about this annual award, click here. Congratulations to all of the applicants for their hard work!
Recently, all MYP students completed their Service as Action reflections and interviews. Service as Action helps our students develop their learner profile attributes such as caring, communicators, balanced, and open minded. Ibu Muti (years 7 and 8) and Ibu Popy (years 9 and 10) have been working hard to ensure all of our students have met their requirements. To learn more about Service as Action at Global Jaya, please click here. We know that parents are integral to supporting students with their service. Thank you!
Year 9 Mini Personal Project:
The year 9 students are working hard on their mini-personal projects. They are working in groups of four to create a product and process journal that focuses on a specific learning goal, product goal, and ATL skills. Students will present their mini projects to year 7 and 8 students on May 17th at 8 am in Plaza A and Plaza B. This learning experience will prepare our students for their personal project that will begin in August of 2024 for current year 9 students.
Year 7 and 8 students - MYP Core:
Ask your child, “What are you reading”? Students read during their MYP Core time, and then prepare to complete a book project. For this learning experience, students are going from old school to paper only! We want to minimize reading distractions and give them the chance to create a unique book project presentation due on May 17th! Our librarian, Ibu Aprinda, has helped them to select age-appropriate books to challenge and interest our students.
