Dear Parents,
I hope this newsletter finds you well. The end of the year is approaching fast, and in six weeks, we will bid farewell to our friends and wish them well and safe travels for the summer holidays. However, these next six weeks are bursting with activities, fun, and opportunities for learning and growth. From conducting internal and external assessments to going to camps, field trips, Jump up days, graduation, transition meetings, assemblies, awards, and lots more.
Speaking of learning and growth, I want to share with you my observations and experiences during our recent camping trip with the Grade 4 students. As educators, we often see our students in the classroom setting, where routines and structures guide their days. However, taking them out of their comfort zone provided a unique perspective on their individuality and adaptability.
It was interesting to observe how differently each child approached new challenges and their environment. Some embraced the outdoor experience and freedom with boundless enthusiasm, while others took a more cautious approach, steadily gaining confidence with each new activity, food and instruction. With the absence of technology, we witnessed on-the-spot games, laughter, jokes and an inspiring camaraderie among the students that's sure to build lasting friendships and memories.
I share this because we often underestimate the capabilities of our children. When we expose them to new experiences and challenges, whether outdoors or through various activities, we are nurturing essential life skills that will serve them well into the future. Skills, that will help them to learn to navigate unfamiliar situations and build resilience, adaptability, and problem-solving abilities—invaluable qualities as they continue to grow and face the world's complexities.
Thank you to our parents, who support and trust us with your children. We know it's not easy to spend the night without your children at home, and we appreciate your trust and encouragement in making this experience possible for them.
Finally, a heartfelt thank you to our dedicated teachers and staff for their tireless efforts in organizing enriching experiences that constantly challenge our students to step out of their comfort zone.
Kind regards,
Lavesa Devnani
