"Small steps add up to complete big journeys." Matshona Dhliwayo
While the end of the school year is in sight, we still have many steps to take before finishing the journey of completing an academic year. Our year 12 students are in the middle of their DP exams. Year 11 students have end of year exams in their future as do our year 10 students. As a community, it’s important that we make sure to dig deep and finish the year strong, especially knowing that now is the time we must find the same energy and enthusiasm that we had at the beginning of the school year. Parents, I encourage you to help your students manage their time, study effectively, and remind them that they have the knowledge, experience, and ability to achieve success.
Speaking of success, we are impressed with the focus and effort demonstrated by our year 10 students who are taking part in the mathematics eAssessment. This exam is a new experience for our students and teachers, and it offers an opportunity for reflection and growth for all of us. For students, the eAssessment affords students the chance to study for and complete an external exam, one that will be similar to their DP exams in year 12. And the exam experience gives our students an opportunity to better understand their level of mathematical knowledge based on an international benchmark. Moreover, as a school, this exam along with additional eAssessments over next few years ensures that we align our teaching with the MYP in a way that will enhance the instructional rigor in our classrooms and more thoroughly prepare our students for the DP. Overall, the eAssessment is a win-win experience for our school–both short term and long term.
