Wrap Object

When we were given this task I would be completely honest as I was both excited as it seemed fun and a bit lost as I didn’t how how I was going to bring about the final layout in what scenery and such basically I didn’t know what to draw when I saw my object.I took a few pictures of the wrapped objects in different angles and lighting to see if I’d get any inspiration from it. I picked one and sketched it out with pencil and another with charcoal in A3 size sketchbook.
Thanks to Emrys he’s given me an artist example to look into which was surrealism from Paul Nash, after doing some research of his work on surrealism one artwork from him called the “landscape from a dream” inspired me to start working. I’ve also looked at some different artist work to get a bit inspired and motivated.

I’m not confident in working on a large piece scale and I always tend to procrastinate and overthink what I wanna draw because it would look intimidating. But after that refreshing research I first I picked up my wrapped object and looked at it for, a different angle then I picked a landscape which was Hong Kong’s repulse bay a beach I often go to when I was in hk and then I sketched mountains with that wrapped object in between them I was really satisfied with it but i was still quite proud of myself that was able to draw it on a big scale and then I thought about the moon since it was surrealism drawing the moon would be find plus I’ve always loved moon watching and taken a pictures of the moon as my reference and exaggerated the details. Then I attempt to try a moon reflection on the water but it just ended up looking like the black hole instead.
Then I remember back in Hong Kong harbour there was a giant rubber duck in the news article it was a 16m (52ft)-high rubber duck, which has attracted crowds of visitors as it travels around the world, and has deflated in Hong Kong's Victoria Harbour. It was created by a Dutch artist Florentijn Hofman, so I added that to my piece too.( for more information: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-22542006 )
I picked up my wrapped object again and thought it looked like a hot air balloon I was excited to draw that down but didn’t know where it would fit so I draw it on a separate paper and cut it out then stick it on large paper then after that I suddenly thought of pyramids and decided why not since I’m thinking of surrealism.Taking a step back and looking at my work I was quite surprised how much fun I had doing realism, working charcoal and on a pig piece of paper
