A tragic plane crash on November 4th near the Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport has left the city in shock. The UPS cargo plane, heading to Honolulu, went down shortly after takeoff when one of its engines reportedly caught fire and broke off.
Flames and smoke filled the sky as the plane crashed into an industrial area close to the airport. Officials say at least nine people were killed and several others were hurt. Some nearby buildings were damaged, and people living close to the site were told to stay indoors while firefighters battled the massive blaze.
Investigators from the National Transportation Safety Board are now working to figure out what caused the crash. They’ve recovered the black boxes, which could reveal what went wrong.
“It’s heartbreaking,” said one local resident. “You never think something like this will happen right where you live.”
Louisville has come together to support victims’ families and first responders. As the investigation continues, the community hopes lessons learned from this tragedy will prevent it from happening again.

On September 4, 2025, Thomas J. Orlando, 39, of Glasgow, allegedly shot and killed a woman who was later identified as Britteny Harper in Park City, Kentucky. According to police reports, two children were present inside the home at the time of the shooting. After fleeing the scene in a 2019 GMC Terrain SUV, Orlando was later located at a nearby cemetery and had a firearm consistent with the one used in the shooting. Orlando was then charged with murder (domestic violence) and two counts of first-degree wanton endangerment for discharge of a firearm after he allegedly made statements to a third party that he was in fact responsible for the death of the victim. Orlando has previously been charged with Contempt of Court Libel/Slander in December of 2022, but it is unclear if the two charges are related. Orlando’s arraignment date was set to Tuesday September 9th at 8:30am, and according to online court records, Orlando now has a preliminary hearing scheduled for Monday, September 15 at 1pm.

Want more variety of food spots? New restaurants coming to you this fall! Chick-Fil-A and Starbucks are coming to you!
The new Chick-Fil-a coming to Glasgow will be located on Rogers Wells Blvd. This will be a welcome addition to the community, as previous restaurant choices have been limited. While there is a good mix of fast food and mom and pop restaurants, the small community is always a buzz when new choices come to town.
The new Starbucks, which this writer is personally excited for, will also be located on Rogers Wells Blvd. Starbucks has an expected opening date sometime this September. Newly announced, Wingstop is expected to open closer to 2026, but will be located on Happy Valley Rd.
