Chasity Lowery, an Algebra and Geometry teacher at Glasgow High School.
Originally from Fountain Run, Kentucky, Chasity Lowery moved to Glasgow three decades ago, and has made the city her home ever since. It was during high school that Chasity realized she wanted to pursue a career in education, and that passion has guided her journey ever since. Raised on a farm, Chasity grew up with a strong work ethic, with her mother serving as a school bus driver and her father tending to the farm. As a teenager, she worked at a local restaurant in Fountain Run. Some of her most cherished childhood memories include playing outside and spending time with close friends and family.
Becoming a mother to twin boys has played a significant role in shaping who Chasity is today. Her biggest motivator is her mother, who raised her to be kind, respectful, and focused on never disappointing her. This sense of responsibility and care influences Chasity’s approach to teaching. She wants her students to know that they can trust her, not only with their academic struggles but also with other challenges they may face. Her faith in God and her commitment to being a good person guide her life choices.
Chasity hopes that her legacy at Glasgow High School will be one of support, where every student feels seen, understood, and loved for who they are. Even after leaving her classroom, Chasity wants her students to know they can always come to her for help. When it comes to managing stress, Chasity finds peace in reading or taking walks with Mrs. Alexander from the middle school.
Time spent with her dog, Bailey, or her family also provides her with comfort and joy. If Chasity were a soup, she says she'd be chicken tortilla soup, describing herself as “a hot mess of lots of things,” reflecting her dynamic, layered personality. If she could choose a superpower, Chasity would choose to “make people silent”. Like Mrs. Cossell, she would choose to be Mr. Dakin for a day as she says, “he is just so cool.” Chasity also sees her spirit animal as a turtle symbolizing someone who moves at their own pace, doesn’t rush, and remains unbothered by life’s chaos. Chasity Lowery’s impact on Glasgow High School is immeasurable. Her dedication, kindness, and trustworthiness make her an invaluable teacher and mentor.
Whether helping her students with math or guiding them through personal challenges, Chasity is a constant source of support and compassion for those who cross her path.
