On October 12th, the girls Scottie Soccer Team competed in the first round of the 4th region tournament against Monroe County after their 15th district victory over the Warren East Raiders. With lots of intensity and competitive energy a scuffle broke out between Scotties striker, Aniston Young and a Monroe County defender. In the last 5 minutes of the game it was getting chippy, Monroe County defender shoves Scotties Aniston Young. Aniston stood her ground and defended herself, the defender kept being aggressive to Young. Young grabs the defender's shoulder and jabs her in the face. Emotions were very high in this match the interaction caused Scotties, Young to be red carded and was ejected from the match. The Monroe County defender received a yellow card. The Glasgow golf team has tied second place in the 4th region tournament! Griffin Jackson, Glasgow freshman, finished second as an individual. Jackson and Tate Pace, Glasgow senior, have now advanced to semi-state. Jackson shot a 69, Pace shot a 76, Jackson Norris, Glasgow Junior, shot a 80, and Carter Hodges, Glasgow senior shot a 86. The tournament also left Tucker Garret, Glasgow 8th grader, shot an 84.
The team tied for second place, but then lost the playoff hole to Bowling Green High School. GHS golfers did not score low enough to beat BGHS in the end. The future of the season is still bright, because two GHS players, Griffin Jackson and Tate Pace can compete individually in semi-state to potentially advance to state.
