Morgan Cossell is the AP Literature teacher and the school librarian at Glasgow High School. Originally from Bowling Green, Kentucky, Morgan has made Glasgow her permanent home for the past five years, after splitting time between both cities.
Morgan grew up with divorced parents, but her grandparents played a huge role in giving her a happy and fulfilling childhood. She reflects on the ups and downs of life, especially during her teenage and adult years, acknowledging that mistakes are inevitable—like when she dropped out of college because of a class that didn’t come easily to her. Morgan finds inspiration in her children and students, which drives her to make the world a better place. She’s grateful for the support of other moms around her age, who she considers mentors, helping her push forward through life's challenges. Her goal is to be a mentor for her students—someone who shows compassion, kindness, and understanding, and reminds them that everyone is fighting their own battle. She wants her legacy to be that she loved her students as people, not just for their academic achievements, and that she truly appreciated who they were. Her hope is that students will remember her as someone who accepted them for exactly who they were, saying, "Mrs. Cossell really just loved me for me." Looking back, Morgan wishes she had treated herself with the same kindness and compassion that she offers others. During stressful times, leaning on her support systems and remembering what matters most helps her get through. Above all, she hopes her students know how incredible she truly thinks they are. For the New Year, Morgan made a commitment to be more present with her children, focusing on them instead of getting caught up in everything else. If she were a soup, she’d choose to be chicken noodle because it’s known for comforting those who are sick, and she hopes to be that source of comfort for others. Morgan also wishes she could be Mary Poppins, with all her superpowers—flying, making medicine taste good, pulling delightful things out of her magical bag, and tidying up with just a snap of her fingers. If she could swap places with another teacher for the day, she’d choose Mr. Dakin because, as she puts it, "He has the most fun."Morgan believes her spirit animal is an opossum—often misunderstood and sometimes struggling with self-image, much like herself. And when it comes to colors, she sees herself as the summertime sky blue.
Morgan Cossell is an integral and beloved member of the Glasgow High School community, and her presence is felt by students, staff, and parents alike. Her warmth, dedication, and passion for education have earned her the admiration of many, and she is a constant source of support and inspiration for her students. Whether she’s helping students dive into classic literature or guiding them through the library’s resources, Morgan’s commitment to her students’ growth extends far beyond the classroom. Her genuine care for others and her approachable nature make her someone students and colleagues alike turn to for advice, encouragement, and mentorship.
