The Glasgow Scottie baseball team is hitting the road this spring break, traveling to Florida for an exciting week of games. After a brief pause last year, the team is eager to return to Florida, where they’ll play against a variety of teams from different regions and states.
In an interview with Cooper Hatton (a sophomore Glasgow Scottie Baseball Player), Coach Garmon reflects on the trip next week with his players:
"It was just, it was just last year that we took a break, and that was more so because it was my first year, but uh yeah, it's back by popular demand, so I hope the kids enjoy it. I hope they play well, and hopefully we can keep continuing to do that in the future," Garmon shared.
The Scotties will be facing five different teams during their time in Florida. The schedule includes a mix of single games and doubleheaders. Garmon outlined the team's schedule: "We're gonna play five games total, so we're gonna play Sunday, Monday, a double header on Tuesday, off Wednesday, a game on Thursday and off Friday. And we play Somerset, Nicholas County, Western Hills, Washington County, and Union City, Tennessee."
The competition is expected to be tough, especially with Somerset being ranked in the top 10 in the state. Garmon emphasized the value of such matchups, noting that teams like Somerset provide invaluable experience for players:
"I think it's a good experience because a lot of teams we play aren't necessarily close to Glasgow, so that's kind of the only time you would play teams like that. Besides Somerset, Somerset is a really good team. They're top 10 in the states, so I'm looking forward to that matchup, for sure," Garmon said.
The players are looking forward to the challenge and the chance to test their abilities against teams they don’t normally face during the regular season. As the team prepares for the tough competition ahead, all eyes will be on how they perform against the out-of-state teams. With Coach Garmon at the helm and a motivated roster, the Scotties are poised for a memorable week of baseball.

The Glasgow High School boys' basketball team has had a challenging season but has persevered. With a current record of 5-22, it's been a year of hard lessons and growth. Despite these hardships, the team won their game against Warren East in overtime, advancing them to the final round of districts and awarding Josiah Driver as player of the game. The overall outcome of Glasgow vs. Barren County resulted in Glasgow becoming runner-up with a final score of 66-53. The Glasgow High School boys basketball team will then proceed to the 2025 4th Region Boys Basketball Tournament, playing Bowling Green on March 11th.
With the new coach, Brandon Stockton, leading the team, we hope to see the best outcomes for Glasgow High School boys basketball. He gives new perspectives to the team to help them win their games. With time, the hard work and dedication the team and coach give will undoubtedly pay off. They might not always have the scoreboard on their side, but they’ve proven time and again that effort and grit can’t be measured in wins alone.

On February 24th, 2025, the Glasgow High School Lady Scottie basketball team played in their first round of district. These girls gave their all and left everything on the court. Sadly, the Lady Scotties lost 73-38, marking Cynthia Austin’s last game.
Austin took the defeat personally, but so did her fellow teammates. Kayla Kirkpatrick, a current GHS sophomore and Lady Scotties basketball player, has played with Cynthia for the past four years. When interviewed, Kayla believed Cynthia’s greatest contribution to the team was her energy, effort, and the “loving person she is to everybody.” Cynthia has truly left a positive impact on Kirkpatrick.
Jordy Goodman, a current GHS sophomore and basketball player as well, was influenced by Cynthia’s presence. Cynthia was a role model to Goodman during the three years they played together. Jordy asked to leave Austin with the following words, “keep being yourself- and do amazing things in the future.”
Cynthia Austin’s influence extends far beyond the scoreboard. Her leadership and spirit have left a lasting impression on the entire team. Reflecting on what makes Cynthia special as a teammate, the Lady Scotties basketball players believe their bond has been strengthened and future generations will be shaped as a result of her astounding leadership.

Our graduating senior basketball players recently had their senior night. Scottie reporters asked them what they learned from being on our basketball team and what kind of legacy they feel they’ve left on GHS.
Our lady Scotties Caption, Cynthia Austin, said, “I have learned to work with different groups, and I have learned to be a leader.” Scottie Caption, Kolby Brewster, said, “Stepping into a caption role has made me grow as a leader and as a person in general.”
Seniors Quinn Nunley and Riley Wenskowsi both plan on continuing their basketball career locally, attending WKU in the fall. These 6 seniors have undoubtedly left a legacy on GHS.

Glasgow, Ky – Glasgow Scottie Seniors are excited and sad for their final year of not only high school but also basketball. These seniors have dedicated this season to be one that they will remember forever.
Being a senior comes with a lot of weight on your shoulders: you have to be a leader for the whole team, be a mentor for younger kids, and most importantly, take the blame for everything. These seniors have shown this everyday on and off the court. The GHS Sports News team was able to speak to Scottie basketball seniors Jay Driver and Colby Brewster about advice they would give to the younger generation.
“Don’t take it for granted, you got to work for everything it won’t be given to you.” - Jay Driver
“Keep on grinding and working, one day it will all be worth it.” - Colby Brewster
Glasgow Scottie Senior Colby Brewster and Glasgow Lady Scottie Senior Cynthia Austin made this season even more special after being named homecoming King and Queen respectively.
Now although the season hasn’t gone as expected, these seniors will forever be missed, not just as basketball players, but as friends off the court.
