In recent news, Guinness World Records has certified Pearl, a Florida chihuahua, and Reginald, a 7-year-old Great Dane from Idaho, as the winners of their respective height titles. These two record-breakers had a playdate earlier this month. During this interaction, 4-inch Pearl and 3 foot tall Reginald got along better than expected despite this comically large height difference. Owners of both dogs describe their personalities as lovable. Reginald is described as mysterious while Pearl is more of a diva. Considering all these unique differences, it highlighted the bond these dogs have.

In recent news, an alligator was found on I-95 near Jacksonville, but that was not the only thing they found. Also on the interstate they found a barefoot Florida man named Mike Dragich wrangling this gator with his bare hands. He was seen using a pole to interact with the gator before throwing it on his shoulder and sitting on its back to muzzle the alligator, all while being shoeless.
To Dragich, this is not an uncommon activity. In fact, he is known as the “Blue Collar Brawler” on Instagram with a following over 300,000 where he posts himself “brawling” alligators. As an addition to this alligator brawling, Dragich is a mixed martial artist and was in the Marines. Last year he assisted the Jacksonville Fire Department to remove an alligator safely.
As an ending statement in the Sheriff’s Facebook post he says, "Just another totally normal day in the Sunshine State".

The National Football League, also known as the NFL, is hosting its annual NFL Draft in Green Bay, Wisconsin this year. It is the first time this city has hosted the draft. The last time it was held in the state was in 1939 when the draft took place in Milwaukee. It is a very exciting draft class, as many famous names from college football, such as Travis Hunter, Ashton Jeanty, and Abdul Carter are going to be going to the pros for this upcoming season. The first pick is going to the Tennessee Titans, not far from Glasgow, as they play in Nissan Stadium in Nashville.
However, there is a player who has declared for the draft who is from our very own Glasgow High School. Dalvin Smith, former football player of the Scotties, is taking his chances in the pros. Smith graduated from Glasgow in 2018 and committed to play for Western Kentucky University. There, he received for over 1,500 yards with the Hilltoppers. With this, we wish Dalvin and everyone else good luck in the upcoming draft. Go Scotties!

After 17 attempts, Rory McIlroy won the Masters Championship, arguably the biggest golf tournament during the tour, after many heartbreaking losses in the previous years. It was a nail-biter for him, as he was in the first playoff round for the championship title in the past 8 years. The one who he played against in the playoff, Justin Rose, also had competed and won the Masters as well, but also had lost in the previous playoff for the title back in 2017 when Rose and Sergio Garcia played against each other.
With this win, McIlory also completed the “Grand Slam”, which has only been accomplished 5 times prior to McIlroy, with the last person to do it being Tiger Woods back in 2000. The Grand Slam refers to winning all of the major championships within golf, including the U.S Open, the Open Championship, the PGA Championship, and the Masters. McIlroy had won these in years prior, but not the Masters, finally wining it this year. Congrats to Rory McIlroy, and good luck in the next season!

Have you ever wondered what a day in the life of a high school principal looks like? This week, Scottie Channel followed Glasgow High School’s own Mr.Norman around to see what his days consist of.
Starting at 8:00 A.M., Mr.Norman attended a meeting with a Glasgow Independent Board Member. Following his meeting, he walked around the school and peeped into classrooms to check things out. During grab-n-go, he stood in the hallways and talked with many teachers and students.
Unfortunately, Mr.Norman had to leave to attend a personal appointment. Therefore, Addyson got to fulfill his principal duties. This included talking on the walkie talkies, retrieving students from class, and hanging with other administrators. Whenever Norman returned, he had to attend another online meeting. Around 2:00 P.M., GMS eighth graders toured the high school and Mr.Norman got to give a small speech informing them of the high school life. Overall, a principal has a wide range of responsibilities. What those are - I guess we’ll never know.

Glasgow High School is known for its dedication to giving students amazing experiences and widening possibilities. One way it delivers on this promise is by giving students the opportunity to participate in clubs - offering a wide variety for students to choose from. Mrs. Deckard, sponsor of the Spanish club, gave us her favorite memory from recent years. Mrs. Deckerd loves going on field trip to preschools and teaching young students Spanish lessons. Mrs. Deckard also said she learned many things from this club. “Many of the students have a desire to help, but they need the guidance on getting there and to participate more.”
In addition to Spanish club, Glasgow High also offers clubs like Deca, Beta, Art club, Hosa, and many more. Mr. London, sponsor of the Y club, offered us his favorite memory from mid-pandemic. Mr London told Scottie Channel that no one had their identification tags on and the bodyguards would not let them through due to strict rules. Mr. London said they eventually got through but not before they dragged a girl on the elevator with no shoes on! Mr. London also learned many things while being in this club, he says it shows you how the real world works and how intriguing it is. “In retrospect, if the kids really understand it and know what they’re doing they can go really far not only in this club, but in the real world too.”
In a world where academic achievement is the highlight of school report cards, it is clear that Glasgow High School values real student experiences as well.
