Paraeducator
Paraeducators play an essential role in the classrooms.
Working under the supervision of a credentialed teacher, the paraeducator supports the teacher, students, and school site staff in many ways. Working in and out of various classroom settings, the paraeducator provides instructional, behavioral and other support to all or specified students.
Some paraeducators may be assigned to support students in Special Education while others may be assigned to support General Education, Dual Immersion, or Preschool academic programs.
General job duties of a paraeducator include, but are not limited to,:
taking and following direction from the credentialed teacher
assisting students with the classroom routine and behavior management
supporting in-class instruction
organizing and conducting small group instruction
tutoring students (before and after school)
collecting and managing data
organizing classroom and materials
supporting various school site staff and classroom settings
