time off

The paraeducator's daily schedule will be assigned by the school site based on how to

best support instruction and meet the needs of the students.

Individual requests for schedules may not be able to be accommodated. Please work with your supervising teacher and site administrator if special circumstances or needs arise.

Breaks & Lunches

Specific break and lunch times will be assigned by supervising teacher or school site to ensure that students are never left unattended and all required student support hours are met. Please advise your supervising teacher and/or site administrator of any special circumstances that may require accommodations.

Holidays

GGUSD recognizes all major holidays. Please refer to the yearly board-approved calendar for exact dates. Holidays are paid during the school year only.


Vacation Time

School session employees shall schedule personal vacations during the winter, spring, summer, or fall school recesses. Any other vacation time taken while school is in session must be pre-approved by the school principal or supervisor and submitted to Frontline (special education only) in order to arrange for coverage.

Personal Necessity (PN)

Each classified employee shall be granted a maximum of ten (10) PN days to attend events which are serious in nature.

  • Employees should notify their supervisor at least 72 hours in advance unless an emergency makes such notice impossible.

  • PN will be deducted from sick leave and shall not exceed 10 regular workdays.

  • PN time shall not be used for recreational purposes.

  • PN requests are subject to prior administrative approval.

Sick Days & Medical Release

All classified employees accrue sick leave on the basis of 1 day per month of active work. Medical release from a physician is required to return to work under the following circumstances:

  • when an absence extends beyond 10 working days, the approval to return must reach the Office of Personnel Services at least one working day prior to employees' intended return.

  • upon return from surgery or hospitalization, this includes any visits to the emergency room

  • employees using casts or orthopedic devices for work
