Paraeducator

Resources

important! Please read:

Resources available in the following sections are for informational purposes only. They are not intended to replace or contradict any district provided or coordinated training and should not supersede any GGUSD policy, procedure, or expectation. Please consult with your supervising teacher and site administrator before implementing any strategy that is not already in use and approved at your site.

Paraeducators play important roles in schools and help make classrooms safe, welcoming, and inclusive. As with any educator, paraeducators must have knowledge and skills to be good at working with students. It will be important to know when to step back and encourage a student to be independent, but also when to step in and provide support, what appropriate levels of support look like for different needs, how to provide corrective feedback with care and compassion, and much, much more. More often than not, many practical skills are learned on the job and from peers but GGUSD offers a variety of skills training throughout the year. Please keep an eye out for opportunity announcements in your district email or on flyers posted at your site sign-in or in your employee mailbox.

The following sections of resources are designed to be an additional layer of support for those seeking to deepen their knowledge and strengthen their practices. Paraeducators should always follow teacher directions and site/district strategies, initiatives, and protocols.
