The GGUSD Induction program assists each Candidate and the Mentor with identifying available resources necessary to accomplish the ILP. The program ensures dedicated time for regular Mentor and Candidate interactions, observations of colleagues and peers, and other activities contained in the ILP. In addition, the mentoring process supports each Candidate's consistent practice of reflection on the effectiveness of instruction, analysis of student and other outcomes data, and the use of these data to further inform the repeated cycle of planning and instruction. Within the ongoing mentoring interactions, the mentor encourages and assists Candidates to connect with and become part of the larger professional learning community within the profession. This is accomplished through a minimum average of 222 minutes of support per month over the course of the school year. Support is also provided through:
Just-in-time support (JIT)
JIT support is time and attention provided to the Candidate by the Mentor or an Induction team member for any job-related need outside of Induction.
Professional Development
Professional Development opportunities are provided in a variety of ways such as in person trainings, PLCs, modules, demonstrations, guest speakers, etc.
Observations
Candidates and Mentors observe each other teaching or step out of their classrooms to observe other experts around the district.
Cohort Meetings
Small groups of Candidates and Mentors come together with an Induction TOSA to collaborate, calibrate, and learn together.
All support minutes are logged in the Candidate's individual Support Log and are verified by digital signatures. Minutes should not be logged for any activities that are completed independently, without support from a member of the System of Support. This might include things such as lesson planning, research, or individual reflection.
Please ask an Induction team member for clarification on Support Log entries, if needed.
