The goal of the GGUSD Teacher Induction Program is to prepare all new teachers for career-long success through meaningful and supportive mentorship. As mentors, we aim to elevate the impact of new teachers by motivating them to meet high professional expectations and develop skills in making informed decisions about their own growth and instructional practices.
Induction Mentors provide intensive individualized support and assistance, encourage and develop ongoing self-assessment and reflection for continuous improvement, and model meeting the academic and personal needs of diverse students through inquiry, collaboration, and professional development.
As mentors of our districts newest generation of teachers, we accept the responsibility of being a role model, counselor, advisor, advocate, and an ally. Choosing to be an Induction Mentor is not taken lightly! With that said, Induction Mentors receive ongoing training in the areas of coaching, mentoring with appropriate instruments, best practices in adult learning, facilitating reflective conversations, accurate goal setting, building trust and rapport, and so much more!
