Step 2, the "Act" phase of the program, is divided into two parts: Step 2a and Step 2b.
In Step 2a, Candidates utilize the insights gathered from Step 1 activities, along with input from their Step 2a Triad Meeting, to select a specific CSTP standard and element on which to focus. They then develop a measurable goal aligned with this focus. Candidates work towards achieving this goal by engaging in ongoing cycles of inquiry, structured around the Plan-Do-Analyze-Refelct process when engaging in professional growth activities. Throughout these cycles, they collect and analyze data to assess the effectiveness of their teaching practices, evaluate student outcomes, and monitor progress toward their goal. At the end of the inquiry, candidates review their progress, reflect on their achievements, and determine the next steps for further professional growth.
In Step 2b, Candidates build on insights from Step 2a and their current situation, along with input from their Step 2b Triad Meeting, to select a specific CSTP standard and element on which to focus. They continue with cycles of inquiry as in Step 2a and conclude their inquiry in the same manner.
