On Dec. 23, 2020, the Georgia Southern University Coaching Education Program announced our first-ever "Students of the Semester" to recognize outstanding achievement in fall courses. Honorees were nominated by the Coaching Education faculty for their performance during the semester. This inaugural class of eleven honorees included five graduate students and six undergraduate students, including one coaching minor of the semester.
Congratulations to Stewart Cook, a Fall 2020 Georgia Southern Coaching Education Student of the Semester! Cook's performance in his courses did not go unnoticed by GS Coach Ed professors, who gave him high praises for juggling his many responsibilities as a NCAA Division I Assistant Football Coach at Kennesaw State University.
"Some people meet the standard and others set the standard. Coach Cook set the standard for quality work this semester!" raved Dr. Hal Wilson- Cook's KINS 7135 (Sport Coaching Pedagogy) professor.
Cook plans to use his degree to broaden his skills and ideas as it applies to coaching football and developing not only young athletes in sports, but beyond as well.
"My ultimate goal in pursuing a master's degree in coaching is to sharpen my skills professionally, challenge myself personally, explore new ideas, and use what I learn to positively impact the lives of my athletes. The material presented and the structure of this program has made me thankful for my decision to pursue this graduate degree," said Cook.
Congratulations again to Coach Stewart Cook, a Georgia Southern University Graduate Student of the Semester for Fall 2020!
