On Dec. 23, 2020, the Georgia Southern University Coaching Education Program announced our first-ever "Students of the Semester" to recognize outstanding achievement in fall courses. Honorees were nominated by the Coaching Education faculty for their performance during the semester. This inaugural class of eleven honorees included five graduate students and six undergraduate students, including one coaching minor of the semester.
Congratulations to LaTrez Chestnut, a Fall 2020 Georgia Southern Coaching Education Graduate Student of the Semester! Coach Chestnut has proven to be committed to his profession, as shown by the quality of his assignments in class.
"Coach Chestnut's passion for coaching comes through in his work. He goes above and beyond on his assignments and makes meaningful contributions to the class discussions. He elevates the entire program," raved Dr. Hal Wilson- Chestnut's KINS 7135 (Sport Coaching Pedagogy) professor.
For his part, Chestnut acknowledged the positive impact that challenging his existing beliefs in his classwork has made on his coaching:
"The Coaching Education master's program has provided me with an excellent opportunity to explore and develop my coaching skills and philosophy, while helping me continue to foster strong relationships with my athletes and all involved in my program. Each class has challenged my existing ideals and required me to grow through critical thinking and analysis. I am looking forward to the remainder of my course work and am excited to continue on this path to tremendous growth!"
Congratulations again to Coach LaTrez Chestnut, a Georgia Southern University Graduate Student of the Semester for Fall 2020!
