This course is designed to provide students with the opportunity to develop and practice leadership skills which help them become socially responsible citizens. Students will learn various methods and techniques for planning, implementing, and evaluating projects related to planning and executing school intramural activities. It is through creating and running these activities that students will learn and practice concepts and skills of leadership. A strong focus will be on cooperative leadership and inquiry-based learning. Among other elements of effective leadership, students will focus on developing self-awareness, public speaking skills, teamwork skills, improving time management, organization, and communication skills. Ultimately, Leadership students will make a positive difference in their school and community.
Success in this course depends on good attendance, self-motivation, and a willingness to try to learn new things.
*Note: This course will run off-timetable and will require regular lunch hour commitments.
The NorKam yearbook is assembled and published by Futurebook Yearboooks. It is the job of the yearbook staff to:
develop a theme,
plan pages and a page ladder,
take photos to support the theme,
organize files
learn the elements of print design
work with publishing software to create yearbook pages
promote book sales.
This is a project-based course with real-world experiences and results.
