Dr. Fnu (Al) Alfandy

Dr. Fnu (Al) Alfandy, DNP Class of 2022

Dr. Alfandy is a nurse practitioner with dual certification in acute care and primary care. He earned his MSN at Thomas Jefferson University, and DNP at UCLA. He specializes in neurology with vascular neurology subspecialty. His DNP project evaluated the safety of a direct referral process for selected patients with transient ischemic attack (TIA) from the emergency department to an NP-led TIA clinic. The project received the UCLA Class of 2022 Best DNP Project Award. The manuscript was accepted for publication in the Journal for Neuroscience Nursing. The project will also be presented at the 2023 Annual American Association of Neuroscience Nurses Conference.

Dr. Alfandy is joining the Stanford Health Care Stroke Program in November 2022 as the Stroke Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Manager. He will be the first NP joining the team and will lead the development of the Stanford Stroke APP Program. As the lead APP, he will build and implement APP onboarding and education processes. He has also been asked to contribute to the development of the Neurology Advanced Practice Provider Fellowship program.

As the co-chair of APP Council at Eisenhower Health, Dr. Alfandy facilitated NP student placement within the institution and throughout the community. He serves as a clinical preceptor in the hospital and at the clinic. As an adjunct faculty at University of Nevada, Reno, he plans to continue his passion for teaching future NPs.
