Third Grade Tiger Times

Over the next two weeks, the students will move from writing a single paragraph to constructing an essay. The children will learn how to write an introductory paragraph with a focus statement, two body paragraphs providing an expansion of their ideas, and a conclusion paragraph. Students will continue to practice revision and editing skills daily.
Reading comprehension packets are sent home weekly for daily practice.
Students will continue learning about distributive property and how to break apart large numbers when multiplying. Students will also beginning to see the relationship between area and multiplication.

SOIL Unit
Students began their observation of soil and its unique properties through hands on observation. We will use the information gathered to identify types of soil. We will continue to notice and investigate soil color, texture, capacity to retain water, and ability to support growth of plants.
