Next week the children will read informational texts and a narrative nonfiction text in order to understand the gist and the author's point of view. Students will continue identifying and explaining literal and nonliteral meanings of words and phrases. Finally, the children will compare the author's point of view to their own point of view. Towards the end of the week the students will analyze a model essay, then they will begin to research solutions for conserving water. We will also review forming and using irregualr plural nouns.
Reading comprehension packets are sent home weekly for daily practice.
Students wrapped up the measurement unit today and will take their assessment Monday. Beginning Tuesday, we will start our last unit on geometry. Students will classify polygons by angles and number of sides. Students will find parallel, perpendicular, and intersecting lines in polygons.
