9/30 Chick Fil A Spirit Night
The children are working on writing informational paragraphs where they identify learning challenges within different countries and how those learning challenges are overcome. Then, students will move from analyzing challenges faced by others, to examining their own learning challenges, specifically with reading. We will read a story about Booker T Washington, More Than Anything Else, and learn from the challenges he faced.
Reading comprehension packets are sent home weekly for daily practice.
Students will continue unit 2 on number patterns and multiplication. Students will be presented with a variety of strategies to solve multiplication problems/situations. (array, skip counting, equal groups, and number line.)
Economics Unit
In this unit we will explore examples of the four types of productive resources. Students will be able to explain that governments provide certain types of goods and services in a market economy (e.g., schools, libraries, roads, police and fire protection, and military) and pay for these through taxes. We will discuss examples of interdependence and trade and explain the benefits of voluntary exchange. We will discuss the concept of opportunity cost as it relates to making a saving or spending choice.
