,Next week we will read a story about Booker T Washington, More Than Anything Else, and learn from the challenges he faced. The children will continue to write about the central message of various texts and prove their thinking referring explicitly to the texts for supporting details.
Reading comprehension packets are sent home weekly for daily practice.
Students will begin learning about associative and distributive property of multiplication. Students will also learn to use multiplication to interpret scaled picture graphs.
Economics Unit
In this unit we will explore examples of the four types of productive resources. Students will be able to explain that governments provide certain types of goods and services in a market economy (e.g., schools, libraries, roads, police and fire protection, and military) and pay for these through taxes. We will discuss examples of interdependence and trade and explain the benefits of voluntary exchange. We will discuss the concept of opportunity cost as it relates to making a saving or spending choice.
