Week of September 1, 2025
Third Grade Tiger Times
9/1 Labor Day
9/4-9/5 Grandparent's Lunch
9/18 Math and Literacy Night
9/19 Digital Learning Day #1
9/26 Picture Day 3-5
The children will continue to read texts about children who face challenges with access to education. They will continue to read research reading books on this topic, and continue to talk in small groups about their books. The students will continue to practice reading for the gist, answering questions referring explicitly to the text, as well as identifying and writing short constructed responses about the lesson, moral, or central message of a story.
Reading comprehension packets are sent home weekly for daily practice.
We just wrapped up our first unit in math. After Labor Day, we will start unit 2 on number patterns and multiplication. Students will be presented with a variety of strategies to solve multiplication problems.
Economics Unit
In this unit we will explore examples of the four types of productive resources. Students will be able to explain that governments provide certain types of goods and services in a market economy (e.g., schools, libraries, roads, police and fire protection, and military) and pay for these through taxes. We will discuss examples of interdependence and trade and explain the benefits of voluntary exchange. We will discuss the concept of opportunity cost as it relates to making a saving or spending choice.
