Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) is making plans for a safe return to the important work of teaching and learning for students and employees in school year 2020-21. Although the district had planned to begin with both in-person and digital instruction, the current COVID-19 situation required a change in those plans. On July 20, the school district announced it would return to school on August 12 with all students receiving digital instruction.
Please continue to check our homepage for updates to help you prepare and get ready as we look forward to starting school digitally on Wednesday, August 12th.

Parents,
As digital learning ended in May, Gwinnett County Public Schools announced a tentative plan to hold summer school in July for identified students in Kindergarten through 8th grade who had low participation in Digital Learning and whose teachers recommended them for additional help. Given ongoing concerns about COVID-19 and a thorough review of the current situation, the district has announced that it will not move forward with its traditional face-to-face summer school for elementary and middle school students this year.
Instead, GCPS will:
Provide Summer Resources online for students and families — GCPS has compiled a number of online reading/language arts and mathematics resources for students and will make those resources available on a Summer Resources web page. These resources will be helpful for students recommended for summer school, as well as all other students. These resources include a variety of engaging technology tools and hands-on activities for your child to complete alone or with your assistance. Please visit our website or go to https://www.gcpsk12.org/gcpslearningresources to begin accessing these resources.
We encourage you to utilize the online resources that are available to help support your student’s learning and readiness for next school year.
To ensure that your student is successful in Algebra I next year, the Math Department has developed an Algebra I Prep Course. This online course will help strengthen the essential prerequisite content knowledge for students enrolled in Algebra I in the upcoming school year.

Under a state law passed by the Georgia State Legislature in 2007, parents of students who receive special education services may request to transfer their child to another public or private school in Georgia provided that their child has an IEP and has been enrolled for a full academic year in a Georgia public school.
Letters explaining this program, along with transfer request forms, are now posted on the GCPS website.
