Renovated Weight Room 

By evaluating facility usage counts, survey results and lack of improvements since the facility opening in this specific area, the weight room fell first on the list of priorities for department upgrades. All equipment was original to the building other than selected equipment in the 2019 $13,000 weight room upgrade.  This project completely renovated all equipment in the weight room as well as changing locations with the Group Fitness room. 

Objectives and Vision of the revised weight room:

·         Modernizing the facility with new trends and equipment

·         Create a more open and welcoming environment for all

·         Consolidate equipment / incorporate more equipment that have multi functions

·         Offer multiple items of highly used pieces of equipment

·         Create facility consistency throughout all pieces of equipment and upholstery

·         Incorporate university school colors into equipment

After evaluating facility usage and program participation, switching the current weight room with the current group fitness room allowed for additional weight room usage while also meeting the needs for the group fitness program. 


Machine Weight Equipment

To compliment the recently renovated Weight Room, we also purchased all new Machine (Select) Equipment.  This project includes updating all of the remaining non-cardio equipment.  Many of the pieces are original to the building and a Hammer Strength Select Equipment upgrade will match the 2021 Weight Room Equipment renovation. This project was completed Spring 2023.

Renovated Cardio Area

Like the Weight Room, cardio area usage and survey results make the Cardio Area next in line for an upgrade.  With many treadmills closer to 10+ years old and well past their life expectancy (5 years), this entire area was updated including flooring, equipment, and TVs.  Like the Weight Room, Objectives and Vision of this area are outlined below.

• Modernizing the facility with new trends and equipment

• Offer multiple items of highly used pieces of equipment

• Create facility consistency throughout all pieces of equipment 

 Installation: July 2023

Sand Volleyball Courts

Recreation Services plans on improving our outdoor offerings and field spaces over the next 5 years. The first step was to install two sand volleyball courts (located close to the SRC and north of the One Room Schoolhouse) during the 2021 – 2022 school year.  

These courts have lights and are open for public use and reservation anytime!

Group Fitness Equipment and Storage 

One of the strongest programs not only in our department but all of campus deserves great equipment and with the May 2021 improvements, we hope you are as happy as we are with the results!  From jump ropes to BOSU balls, med balls to new kettle bells, we've got the equipment you need to complete a successful group fitness workout as well as use during open recreation times.  

Facility Flooring 

Balancing multiple other projects, installing new flooring throughout the facility was critical while changing the layout and room usage in the FY21 project.  The new flooring is recommended for all purpose usage in each area as well as meets the need for weight room usage and impact absorption for dropped weights. 

Facility Paint & Image

Recreation Services implemented the "Spirit" Color Palette during the 2020 – 2021 school year to make a visual improvement to the Student Recreation Center.  This project was completed prior to advancing other facility improvements.  The previous facility paint was original to the building that was opened in 2002.

The last area of our facility that was updated was our gym courts and track. This project began over winter break 2023 and was completed January 2024. The previous Mando flooring is now Terraflex.
