Read Aloud: We are working on making predictions and using text evidence to support our predictions.
A great wait to practice this at home is to stop as you are reading a story and ask your child questions.
Before Reading: Look at the front cover of the book. Based on the title and illustrations, what do you think is going to happen in the books?
During Reading: What do you think is going to happen next? What in the text makes you think that?
During/ After Reading: Was your prediction correct?
I can use pictures to tell a story.
This week we are practicing storytelling by using drawings to match the story we want to tell.
In our drawings, we are practicing labeling by using the first letter we hear in a word, and we are identifying that strings of words make sentences!
At home you can encourage your writers to draw and ask them about what story they are trying to tell through their sketches.
Additionally, you can encourage writing at home with your child by practicing writing their name and identifying the letters in their name.
