Instructional Priorities - Tech Tools and Strategies

Each week I'll be adding tech tools or strategies for some of the FCSD Instructional Priorities. Check back each week for new content!

#1 - Learning targets are embedded explicitly throughout instruction.

Using Google Calendar to Post Learning Targets

Many teachers don't know that when you create a Google Classroom it automatically creates a Google Calendar that goes along with that classroom. This follows the same sharing permission that Google Classroom has; ie. teachers have permission to edit and students have permission to view.

This means that you can post anything to that Google Calendar and students will automatically be able to see it in their events. This also means that if you train your students to check Google Calendar (building up that executive function) each day for assignments and other things that are coming up in your Google classroom, the students will see what you post! Using the power of repeating events in Google Calendar you can set a repeating event for each day of the school year (M, T, W, Th, F - repeat every 1 week - then go through and delete just the days that we have off). Then, you can modify each event each day or days as necessary to attach or copy/paste in your learning targets! This also works great for daily agendas!
