Transition to Secondary School

We believe that a strong start to secondary school can set students up for success throughout their time at Fulham Cross Girls’ School. Because of this, we have an expert team of staff who support Year 7 students during their transition to secondary school from the very moment that we know that they will be part of our Fulham Cross community. It is our excellent pastoral care in Year 7 and beyond that sets Fulham Cross Girls’ School apart from other schools.

Students are supported in their time in Year 7 by Ms Chaer and Mx Amber as well as their form tutors and a variety of class teachers. Mx Amber is a non-teaching member of staff who supports Year 7 students by completing primary school visits in the summer term of Year 6, running Induction Day in July of Year 6 and creating a programme of Summer School activities that support students in getting to know the school surroundings and making new friends.

In addition, our Year 7 team offers:

The Year 7 team is also supported by our Big Siblings. These are students in Year 8 who have been selected in this leadership role to support Year 7 students with their transition to secondary school, answering any questions from the perspective of other students at the school.

The Year 7 team can be contacted at any point during the transition period on the fcgs-transition@fulhamcross.net email address and they are always happy to answer your questions.

We also offer the opportunity for parents and carers to work with their children on the transition to secondary school using the activity booklets below;

Parent/Carer Teacher Association

At Fulham Cross Girls’ School we believe that in order for our students to be happy, academically successful and well rounded young people we require a strong relationship between the school, our students and their parents and carers.

The Parent/Carer Teacher Association is a dedicated group of parents and carers who have chosen to take an active part in school life. The aim of the Parent Carer Council is to ensure a rich and fulfilling school experience by fundraising and building relationships between the school and parent community. Fundraising events have included the organisation of a winter raffle and through coordinating food stalls at the International Dance Show in the Spring term.

In addition, parents and carers are welcomed to Coffee Mornings at the school on a termly basis to meet with other Fulham Cross Girls’ School parents and your daughter/ward’s Progress tutor. This offers the opportunity to discuss life at Fulham Cross from a parent’s/ward’s perspective and give feedback to the school.

If you would like more information on joining the Parent/Carer Teacher Association, please email fcgs-school@fulhamcross.net

At Fulham Cross Girls’ School we aim to work closely with our students’ families to ensure the best possible outcomes for all children who attend our school.

Our key information for parents and carers is contained within our ‘Parent Guide’ booklet, attached.
