Unified Music at FHS: A Club for All
by Adeline Walker
Do you like all things music, or would perhaps enjoy a relaxing and fun end to your week? The Unified Music Club at FHS is looking for members, and you sound like a perfect fit!
The Unified Music Club, run by music teacher Ms. Rudsit, meets every Friday in the chorus room (room 127) after school. The club fosters an extremely welcoming environment, inviting students involved in FHS music programs, or even those who have never experienced music in an academic setting before.
Each meeting, club leader and FHS senior Arsh Tyagi describes how members “play games, have fun, and have a nice end to [their] week” to “connect with special needs students through music.” Pantherbook member, Johnny Mason, attended a recent meeting of the program, where students played a game where a song was played on the piano and they had to guess the song and artist. Johnny recalled that everybody was super engaged and there was no pressure: everybody had the opportunity to relax and connect with their peers through music!
Ms. Rudsit also described this inclusive, student-run environment where there are times to do activities like bucket drumming, Just Dance, performing, singing, games, and more!
Overall, the Unified Music program at FHS sounds like an easygoing after-school activity on Fridays where students can hang out with their peers while also engaging with music in all styles and forms. If you’d like to join, you can join the Google Classroom with the code “5y647she,” show up to the chorus room after school on Friday, or email rudsitl@franklinps.net with questions! They are super excited to have you!
