The FHSTC presents mean girls. They will be performing at FHS on Friday, the 21st, and Saturday, the 22nd, at 7 pm, and Sunday at 1 pm. You can buy tickets on GoFan or at the door.
Arsh Tyagi shared how “On Wednesdays we wear pink… and bring the high school flair to the Broadway classic”. Even if you aren't a film enthusiast, you'll be able to catch some references from FHS's Mean Girls performance on November 21st, 22nd, and 23rd. Getting close to Thanksgiving break, right now is the perfect time to spend with friends and watch Mean Girls for its hilarious scenes, talented actors filled with a vast amount of energy, and so much more. So, how about you “get in loser, we’re going shopping” for a new favorite school event.
For some context, our theater department has undergone many hits in the past few years with many adversities; however, the crew is filled with some of the most talented actors who aren't even doing it for the money but rather the passion and love for theater. And this isn't just me speaking, Arsh Tyagi mentioned how, “despite the budget cuts, the crew still stays dedicated and hardworking”. Every crew member brings it all. Take, for example, Ava Sancher, who described herself as being “bubbly” and “silly,” making sure that you don't leave the performance without a smile on your face. And it’s not like these actors are playing roles that don't match them. Mean Girls is based on high school life, and Daphne Johnson even said that rehearsing “feels like my everyday life in the show.”
Even if you have no prior experience with mean girls, you will find the show relatable “if you’ve been to high school,” which, if you’re reading this article, I presume you have. This is an “eye-catching” show for everyone, Daphne Johnson also mentioned how you’ll especially be left in awe by the scene in the gymnasium with the trust exercise, filled with “humor and a beautiful message” you will be left in awe. Furthermore, even if you have watched Mean Girls, the FHSTC puts its spin on the show by implementing “tap dancing, skateboarding, and people stacked on shoulders acting like elephants”. I know what you are thinking, Wait what? indeed. Arsh says it’s “eye-catching”. Just know that if you choose to come and support your local community, the FHSTC will get the recognition they deserve for their endless commitment. You will never be left without surprise because “We’ve made our own choices”-Daphne Johnson.
At its heart, this show is not just some high school theater performance but a reflection of the high school itself. “We bring the feeling of high school to Mean Girls,” the cast takes pride in how “It’s raw and real.” In three words Charlie Nash describes the musical as "Energetic, Hilarious, and Heartfelt.". All of which are great qualities you should be excited about.
It does not matter whether you’re a theater enthusiast, a Mean Girls fan, or just someone looking for a good time with the ones closest to you, uniting you even further. Similar to the team's bond, they work hard as they grow together. This production is one you’ll regret missing and hear being talked about in the halls.
