Last Friday, January 23, 2026, the Franklin High School (FHS) swim team beat Milford High School (MHS) at MHS at their last duel meet of the season, also celebrating their graduating seniors with a ceremony at its conclusion.
The team chemistry and energy throughout the meet was remarkable: despite wins or losses, members of the team were constantly cheering on their teammates, giving fist bumps or high fives to their opponents at the end of their individual events, and noticeably giving them pep talks or congratulating them at the end of each event.
Both the girls and the boys swam the same events back to back, including races such as the 200 Freestyle, 500 Freestyle, 100 Butterfly, several relays, and more.
The meet finished with combined scores of FHS at 164 points and MHS at 139, winning the meet overall. The girls finished with 102 points, while the MHS team finished with 63, marking an undefeated season for the girls overall. The boys finished with 62 points, while the MHS team finished at 76, marking a close match-up.
After the meet concluded, the senior night ceremony started. Underclassmen members of the team stood facing each other, each pair holding up a towel to create a tunnel for each announced senior to run through: Teagan Danahy (C), Hannah Fleige (C), Maddy Surdi (C), Ady Lincourt, Arnavi Pitke, Ollie McCarthy (C), and Arsh Tyagi!
Additionally, at school, each underclassman member created and wore their own shirt to celebrate the seniors who are soon leaving the team. It’s safe to say that the team’s current seniors will be extremely missed! Congratulations to the FHS swim team on their victory and excellent teamwork throughout the season!!
