Learning a world language is a lifelong journey. Our approach to language aquisition is based on research that provides compelling input through stories. Comprehensible Input states that we aquire language when we understand the message and can relate to the story. We begin in Kindergarden by listening with the intent to understand. We have high expectations for our students. We are one of the few districts that offer Spanish at the elementary level. While it takes 10,000 hours to be proficient in any world language, we pride ourselves in laying the foundation for a life rich with language and culture. We focus on high frequency structures and teach through compelling, and fun stories, songs, and games.
