District Mission

Rich in tradition and focused on the future, the Fort Thomas Independent School District provides engaging and challenging learning experiences which foster creativity, curiosity and innovation, while inspiring all students to pursue lifelong learning and become productive members of the global community.

Curriculum Committee Vision

The Fort Thomas Independent Schools Elementary Curriculum Framework Committee will develop a scope and sequence that will provide support across the elementary schools and will allow for consistency in what is being taught quarterly, while empowering teachers and ensuring teacher autonomy.


A curriculum toolkit will provide elementary teachers with the ability to easily identify

  • Opportunities to embed Portrait of Graduate competencies

  • Opportunities for social emotional learning

  • Opportunities for cross-disciplinary connections

  • Links to high quality resources

  • Links to high quality sample lesson and units


Finally, the committee is intent on developing a living framework of resources that inspires teacher use and one that will be updated regularly based on curriculum discussions. The design will be easy to navigate and visually appealing with the ability to search, and connect quickly vertically to content and to examples through hyperlinks and clear pathways.
