The linear form, or linear combination, of a vector uses the sum of multiples of the standard unit vectors. For example, if you have a vector that goes to the right 9 units, that would be represented as 9i. If you move from the terminal point up 4 units, that would be represented as 4j. Adding these vectors together write the vector in linear form.
Follow these steps to write a vector in trigonometric form.
Sketch a graph.
Write the vector in component form.
Determine the direction.
Find the magnitude.
Write the vector in trig form.
