Objectives
After completing this module, you will be able to:
identify the corresponding angle measure between 0° and 360° or 0 and 2π for any positive or negative angle measure in degrees or radians
convert between degrees and radians
determine the difference between choosing radians or degrees when graphing a trigonometric function
define the six basic trigonometric functions for all real numbers by identifying corresponding angle measures and using right triangles drawn in the unit circle
solve mathematical and real-world problems involving triangles using the Law of Sines and the Law of Cosines
find the area of a triangle given two sides and the included angle
use special triangles to determine the values of the six basic trigonometric functions for 0, π /6, π /3, and π /4 and their multiples
use the unit circle to express the values of sin, cos, and tan for π – x, π + x, and 2π – x in terms of their values for any real number, x
calculate the values of the six basic trigonometric functions using the unit circle, trigonometric identities or technology
solve and graph mathematical and real-world problems that are modeled with sine and cosine functions
solve and graph mathematical problems that are modeled with tangent and the reciprocal functions
interpret key features of trigonometric functions and determine constraints in terms of the context
graph and determine key features of trigonometric functions given a table, equation or written description
solve trigonometric equations using inverse functions, interpret them in terms of the context, and evaluate the solutions using technology
find the inverse of a trigonometric function by restricting it to a domain on which it is always increasing or always decreasing
