The final 3 days of the internship program we bring all of our summer interns to Carrboro for an end-of-the-summer celebration and presentation.
Please take the time to listen to their presentations. This is an excellent way to get a better understanding of the internship program and what projects our interns have been involved in.
2025 Intern Presentations (Coming Soon)
Below is an outline of the the support and expectations of the interns' presentations.
Expected to be 15 minutes long.
Take place on the last week of the internship.
5 minutes allotted for Q&A afterward.
Dress is professional.
The audience will be made up of the intern managers, new hire champions, the internship committee, and some department leaders.
Presentations will be recorded.
Content
Being able to share your story effectively is a great mark of a leader and will serve you well in the future. Consider the following as a loose outline with which to craft your presentation.
Where did you come from? (Who are you? How did you get to this point?)
Why are you here?
What did you learn? (A brief overview of 1-2 projects you took on, your role in the project, and what you learned through the process)
What are you taking away from this experience? (What did you learn about yourself? About your working preferences? Ideas for the future?
First, meet as a group via Zoom to go over some basic presentation skills and answer any questions that interns might have.
Second meeting via Zoom to share how they are doing on their presentation and ask any specific questions they may have. The interns will have the opportunity to do a dry run of any part of the presentation they would like feedback on. Interns should come prepared with a solid draft of your presentation.
During their last week, the interns will get to do a dry run of their presentation. Their presentation should be polished and ready to go at this point. They will be provided feedback and assistance with any logistics so that they are comfortable with the final presentation on Wednesday.
