National Board Supports

FCPS Launch is a one year support opportunity strategically designed for FCPS educators pursuing their National Board Certification through the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS) organization. The opportunity consists of virtual support sessions, one-on-one mentoring opportunities, face-to-face events, and writing/editing support for educators navigating National Board Certification process. Participation is through an application process. Initial candidates receive prioritized enrollment. 

 Writing/editing support for at least one component submissions from National Board Certified Teachers.  First come, first serve basis.  Review window: January-April. 

Learn from those who have completed the journey before you! ATLAS (created by NBPTS) provides a library of authentic cases of accomplished teaching practice indexed to common teaching and learning frameworks across a wide variety of classroom settings. FCPS has a limited number of full access licenses allocated for FCPS candidates. (Contingent upon available MSDE license allocation)

  • Descriptive Writing (MEDUC 570): Guides teachers through classroom recording, observation, and systematic self-reflection aligned with NBPTS standards. 

  • Analytical Writing (MEDUC 571): Assists educators with data analysis and evidence-based portfolio reflection. 

• Across Maryland Opportunities

MSEA Center for Professional Learning invites members to attend a three-day workshop for National Board candidates.  The seminar supports participants working on cerification processes.  Registration dates, time and locations will be post as they become available on the MSEA website. (This event is not paid for by FCPS) 

NBPTS.org provide an abudance of FREE resources such as webinars, social media groups and a Canvas course to support NBCT candidate.  Check out the NBPTS.org website for the most current resources and information available.
