Quick Bites is a self-paced, fully asynchronous badged course that allows participants choice in the time, pace, path, and place of their learning. This one-credit course features topics and strategies that are evidence-informed to help all students reach success. This course serves as an introduction to more intensive Mind, Brain and Education coursework options in FCPS. It can also serve as retrieval practice for those who have already taken the Mind, Brain and Education coursework. Mind, Brain and Education (MBE) is an evidence-informed lens that helps educators examine and refine their practice. Each Quick Bite is one hour in length. By engaging in a required number of these "bites" over the five-week window, you can earn 1 credit (15 hours).
Credit is awarded by completing 15 learning hours. You will submit your completed MBE Quick Bites Tracking Document which details your learning plan and the Quick Bites you completed. Within the Tracking Document, you will also share your Application Artifact. This highlights the application of your learning to your role and demonstrates your professional growth in a particular area. Your fifteen hours consists of 1 hour of an introduction to MBE and Quick Bites, 11 hours of engaging with Quick Bites, and 3 hours working on your Tracking Document and Application Artifact. You will be able to earn 1 credit in this course. Quick Bites topics align to the MBE coursework that takes a deeper dive into the strategies, concepts and research in MBE.
