Teaching WalkThrus is a collection of five-step guides to instruction that are evidence-informed and applicable to any context.

At the heart of Teaching WalkThrus is a selection of 150 evidence-informed instructional strategies rooted in a deep understanding of how learning works.  Each WalkThru includes a five-step visual guide and the research that underpins the strategy. The resource also provides evidence-informed coaching strategies and high quality professional learning opportunities. 

Teaching WalkThrus offers instructional guidance to any educator, in any content, with any level of experience; it is fully aligned to Danielson's Framework for Teaching and serves as a common resource with common language that supports coaching and instructional leadership. 

As an evidence-informed and equity-driven school system, FCPS is commited to ensuring that the resources we use to support learning allow access and success for all. Teaching WalkThrus is one means by which FCPS is fulfilling that commitment. 

Our initial Teaching WalkThrus work began with a focus on new hires; we began by training the central office teacher specialists and school-based mentors who provide new hire coaching and support. As awareness and enthusiasm for the resource spread, we expanded our training audience to include to master teachers, school-based specialists and administrators, and central office supervisors. Through a "grass roots" approach to sharing the resource, system leaders have recognized the potential for Teaching WalkThrus to support indivdual, team, and whole school processes, as well as our systemic commitment to evidence-informed and equity-driven instruction.
