Dr. Dhasarathy received her B.S. in Zoology and M.S. in Biomedical Genetics in India. Her work on gene expression and chromatin in the laboratory of Dr. Michael Kladde at Texas A&M University, TX, earned her a PhD. She performed postdoctoral work in breast cancer with Dr. Paul Wade at the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) in the Research Triangle Park, NC.
Her interests are chromatin structure and transcriptional regulation, as it applies to the epithelial to mesenchymal transition (EMT), leading to cancer metastasis.
Dr. Dhasarathy serves as the program coordinator of the NIH funded Center of Biomedical Research Excellence (CoBRE) in Epigenetics at the University of North Dakota. Her laboratory studies chromatin and gene regulation in two broad areas- breast and ovarian cancer, and Lyme Disease.
