Dr. Mauro Costa-Mattioli earned his bachelor’s degree at the University of the Republic in Uruguay, his master’s degree from the University of Pierre and Marie Curie in Paris, his Ph.D. from the University of Nantes, and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at McGill University. He served as Professor, Cullen Endowed Chair in Neuroscience, and Director of the Memory & Brain Research Center at Baylor College of Medicine until 2022. Currently, he is a founding principal investigator at Altos Labs, Inc.
His research has not only impacted the neurobiology of neurological disorders, but also industry efforts to develop drugs that to improve brain health.
Mauro has received several prestigious awards, including the International Eppendorf & Science Prize in Neurobiology, the Searle Scholar Award, the Whitehall Scholar Award, and the Michael E. DeBakey Excellence in Research Award. He also serves on several editorial boards for leading journals such as Neuron and non-profit organization, including the Board of Life Science from the National Academies of Science, Engineering, and Medicine.
