MN License Renewal
IMPORTANT: It is the agent's responsibility to ensure you have completed all of your required continuing education requirements on time. Log in to Pulse Portal and double-check that you have all your hours completed on time,
You do not need to send us your completed certificates. CE providers report them directly to the DOC within 10 days.
You need to have completed this year's (and last year's if your license is due to expire) required module - 3.75 hours for each module.
No duplicate classes before the deadline each year by June 30th.
No more than 8 hours a day of CEs will be counted.
DEADLINE: All resident real estate licensees have an education requirement due before 4:30 pm CST on June 30, 2023, except initial real estate licensees whose licenses have an expiration date of June 30, 2024. If in doubt, verify when your Minnesota license expires online at Pulse Portal.
PROCESS: Once you have verified that your CE's are complete, no further action is needed from you. The Broker will submit your renewal on your behalf during the renewal period. You do not need to take any action or contact the DOC directly.
PAYMENT: eXp Realty will pay the State for your renewal and then you will be billed to your eXp account the following month. For 2023, the renewal fee is TBD and is charged by the State of MN Department of Commerce, not by eXp Realty.
Continuing Education (CE) Requirements for MN
As a real estate licensee, you will have 15 continuing education (CE) requirements that must be completed before June 30 each year for a total of 30 every renewal period of 2 years.
MN CE Requirements: Continuing Education Requirements for Real Estate Salespersons
The required module for 2021-2022 - The History of Diversity in Homeownership
The required module for 2022-2023 - Practical Application to Inclusive Representation
Continuing education must be taken in the appropriate license period; extra hours or courses do not carry over into the next period or satisfy future renewal requirements.
You may not repeat a continuing education course for credit during the same licensing period.
As part of the 15 hours each license year, a real estate salesperson must complete a specific general module continuing education course. As part of the 30 hours required for license renewal, a real estate salesperson must successfully complete at least one hour of training in courses in laws or regulations on agency representation and disclosure (“Agency Laws”), and at least one hour of training in courses in state and federal fair housing laws, regulations, and rules, other antidiscrimination laws, or courses designed to help licensees to meet the housing needs of immigrant and other underserved populations (“Fair Housing”).
Brand New Agents and Inactive Licenses (2+ years): If this is your first renewal you do not need to have 15 hours completed by the first June 30 that occurs after you become licensed for the first time or become newly relicensed after your license was inactive for more than two years.

License Renewal Process FAQ
Do I need to do anything to renew my license? You need to make sure that you have completed your required CEs and they were reported to the MN DOC. The actual renewal is done by your broker.
Where do I send in my CE certificates? CE providers submit them directly to the state within 10 days. You do not need to send them in to eXp Realty. You can log in to Pulse Portal to verify they are there.
I took a course but I don't see it on my transcript in Pulse Portal! What do I do? If a course has been completed but is not listed on the CE transcript, you will need to contact the course provider for assistance. The Department of Commerce and eXp Realty cannot assist you with this issue. All completed continuing education must be uploaded by the course provider. Keep in mind they have up to 10 days to submit your CEs to the DOC.
What happens if I do not have my CEs done in time for renewal? If your license expires in this renewal period and you have not completed your CE's, your license will be returned to the state by eXp Realty and you will be inactive and unable to participate in real estate activities. If it does not expire this year and you are are not a newly licensed agent (either brand new or newly relicensed), you should have completed 15 hours by 6/30/22. Your license is at risk of being sent back to the state and you should complete your CEs asap.
