eXp Realty Policy on REALTOR® Membership
All eXp Realty agents must belong to a local board or association. This applies to any active, licensed agent regardless of any production activity. By joining a local association, you automatically become a member of not only your Local association, but also a member of the National and State level REALTOR® associations. In Minnesota, our State association is Minnesota Realtors and of course, you will also be automatically a member of the National Association of Realtors (NAR).
Your local association provides your access to the local MLS as well as many educational benefits. Be sure to bookmark your association's education calendar! According to the Independent Contractor Agreement (ICA) that all agents sign upon joining:
"Contractor shall maintain an active membership in a local association or board of REALTORS affiliated with the National Association of REALTORS as determined by Company. Contractor agrees to be a dues paying member of, and abide by the REALTOR Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice of the National Association of REALTORS as well as the statutes and rules of the state within which they are licensed and any requirements of the multiple listing service if Contractor is a member. For any REALTOR boards that require the brokerage to pay the fees upfront, the Contractor shall reimburse the company within 10 days of invoice for the same. "

MLS Map of the National Association of REALTORS®
To have MLS access, you will need to join your local association first. This interactive map will list which local associations
Each MLS is unique with their own staff, agreements with dozens (sometimes hundreds) of vendors for services, local rules, etc. Your MLS is ultimately a collective of brokers that have signed covenants to establish and enforce rules for cooperation and compensation for sales. The MLS is the foundation for how real estate brokers work with each other, both guidelines and enforcement of the rules, and the foundation on top of which technology platforms exist.
Code of Ethics Training
The NAR Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice establishes ethical duties that all REALTORS® agree to follow as a condition of their membership. These duties provide a high level of service and professionalism to clients/customers and are the key factor separating REALTORS® from all other real estate practitioners. REALTORS® are required to complete ethics training of not less than 2 hours, 30 minutes of instructional time. The training must meet specific learning objectives and criteria established by the National Association of REALTORS®. Check your status and view options to complete the class HERE.
