Setting Up Google Classroom.webm

Classroom Tips

  • Add Co-teachers: On your People page you can add other staff members as Teachers to your Classroom. If you have students who receive services from other people, they can be added. Those staff members can now send activities, resources, messages to the students they serve without the student needing to be in multiple classrooms for the various special services.
  • If you are a Co-teacher of multiple Classrooms, turn off your notifications. Log in to classroom.google.com and go to the Classes menu (top left corner) and scroll down to Settings. Turn off all notifications that you do not need. If you are working with only a few students in each classroom, I recommend using ONLY: Comments (all three) and Invitation to Co-teach (in the Classes you Teach section).
  • Differentiate by assigning work to individual and groups of students. If one student requires additional accommodations, make a copy of the activity you created and assign the accommodated version to only those students who need it. Assign the regular activity to the others. The students will only see the assignment given to them and will not know it is different from the others.
  • Try to limit instructional videos to 5 minutes. It is better to have several smaller videos that offer a break between them than a longer video. Students are more likely to go back and watch a small video when they need help rather than looking for one piece of a larger video. (FYI: Adults are the same way.)
Google Meets link in Classroom.webm

Google Meets is now integrated into Classroom for increased privacy and ease of use.

This video will show you how to create the link as well as turn the visibility of that link on and off within your classroom.
