Scenes

GoGuardian Scenes has new features!

You can now apply different scenes based upon GoGuardian Groups. You can also apply a scene to a individual student based upon needs.

When creating "allows" and "blocks" the URL matters. If you are having issues, consider editing your URL to either allow or block more based on the subdomain and path.

Examples of URLs to Add when creating a Scene

Base URL: Domain + Top Level Domain

Example: google.com or www.google.com will allow or block the entirety of Google-related services.

If added to your Allowed Websites List: It will allow students to browse Google-related services at google.com including Gmail (mail.google.com), Docs (docs.google.com), Drive (drive.google.com), and Google Search (google.com/search). That is because these services all stem from the google.com main domain.

If added to your Blocked Websites List: It will block all Google-related services at google.com including Gmail, Docs, Drive, and Google Search. This is because each of these services is a part of the main domain of google.com.

Subdomain URL: Subdomain + Domain + Top Level Domain

Example: docs.google.com will allow or block the subsection Google Docs.

If added to your Allowed Websites List: It will allow students to browse only docs.google.com and any pages starting with docs.google.com/ with a Path after, such as docs.google.com/document/45893WnVnJ.

If added to your Blocked Websites List: It will block students from browsing any pages starting with docs.google.com/.

Path URL: Subdomain (if necessary) + Domain + Top Level Domain + Path

Example: kids.nationalgeographic.com/games will allow or block the Games pages on National Geographic.

If added to your Allowed Websites List: It will allow students to browse only the pages within kids.nationalgeographic.com/games, and nothing else on the kids.nationalgeographic.com website.

If added to your Blocked Websites List: It will block students from browsing the pages within kids.nationalgeographic.com/games. The rest of the kids.nationalgeographic.com website is accessible to the student.

One of the newer features is the RESOLVE option. There are times when a student may be monitored (and controlled) by more than one teacher/administrator. If a scene is already applied to a student in your classroom, you now have the option to RESOLVE it by taking over.

Please.....

Archive your classes at the end of the year. Any scenes that you may have scheduled because you are an awesome educator can affect the student in future educational activities.
