The Gift Shop
Every students needs opportunities to extend or deepen their learning. Whether they are identified G/T or passionate about the topic you are discussing, providing options to continue the learning benefits all.
After watching Dave Burgess talk about the Gift Shop, I challenge you to create a Gift Shop Choiceboard for you classroom. You may choose any TEKS for a course you are currently assigned.
EXAMPLE: I just finished up my 4th grade activity on 8.A measure, record, and predict changes in weather. We measured the daily rainfall, watched weather reports, and talked about how weather changed the landscape. Rather than assigning a worksheet to check for understanding, I decide to offer up some options. Within my choice board, I have options for videos and books for additional information and then challenges they can complete.
Your challenge: Create a G/T Choice Board that allows your students to extend or deepen their knowledge of a standard you teach in your classroom.
You must use a digital tool that is shareable in Google Classroom (Docs, Slides, Sheets, Sites, Padlet, Wakelet, Thinglink, etc.)
Your choice board must be based upon the TEKS for a class you are assigned.
You must provide at least 6 different options that provide an opportunity to deepen or extend the understanding of your standard.
